Why a Centennial Campaign?

In July 2025, the board of the Sigma Chi of Cornell Alumni Association announced a $2.5-million campaign to invest in the chapter’s next 100 years on the hill. This announcement was made at the centennial celebration in Ithaca, commemorating the purchase of Greystone from Irene Castle by the association.

The Alpha Phi Chapter has had a storied run and continues to this day as one of the premier fraternities at Cornell. This does not just happen; the fraternity attracts quality men, and our alumni have provided encouragement, support, and guidance over many decades. One might ask then, why are we asking for money? The answer is simple; this is the time to invest in the future to ensure Alpha Phi can continue to provide a quality experience for our undergraduate brothers.

This campaign, which will span five years, culminating in 2030 (coinciding with the 140th anniversary of the establishment of Sigma Chi at Cornell), has the three following pillars:

  • Capital improvements to Greystone to meet the needs of students in the 21st century.
  • An endowment to make Greystone more affordable for undergraduate brothers.
  • Educational programming and professional development.
